In short: four calls of relevance to agriculture, forestry, fisheries and tourism are open, and the first closes on 4 September. This note sets out, for each, who may apply, what is financed, the rate and the allocation, the exact deadline and the instrument that supports it. What matters here are dates and requirements, not promises.
Pear orchards: 4 September
Eligible applicants are individuals or legal persons carrying on agricultural activity, and non-profit legal persons whose objects include services connected with agriculture, holding pear orchards in the parishes delimited by the order of the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary Affairs defining the areas contaminated by Erwinia amylovora. The support finances two rounds of sanitary pruning, at unit costs of 591.50 euros per hectare treated, as a non-repayable grant, with an announced allocation of 5 million euros. Approved operations begin by 15 October 2026 and are completed by 31 January 2027. Ref.: 1st call under intervention C.4.1.2 of the mainland PEPAC, released on 22/07/2026; Ministerial Order No. 214/2026/1 of 11 May.
Underperforming eucalyptus stands: 30 September
Addressed to individuals or legal persons, public or private, holding or managing manifestly underperforming Eucalyptus spp. stands in mainland Portugal, excluding areas covered by Integrated Landscape Management Operations under way on 1 January 2026. It finances the recovery of those stands through replanting, with the same or another species. The information released indicates an allocation of 15 million euros and completion of projects within 24 months of acceptance of the application. The period has been running since 30 June and closes on 30 September 2026. Ref.: Notice No. AG PEPACC/Aviso 01/C.3.2.6/2026; Ministerial Order No. 120/2026/1 of 19 March.
Swordfish fishery: 29 October, at 18:00
Beneficiaries are the owners of vessels licensed for the fishery directed at swordfish and their crews, on the mainland and in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. The support compensates temporary cessation of activity for 60 consecutive days, between 1 July and 30 October 2026, subject to at least 120 days at sea in the two preceding calendar years. The public support rate is 100%, with an indicative fund allocation of 1,260,000 euros. Compensation to the vessel owner results from applying a coefficient of 0.29 to the vessel daily income in 2025, multiplied by the days of tie-up; wage compensation results from the guaranteed minimum monthly remuneration of 920 euros divided by 30. Practical point: the application must be submitted before the end of the tie-up. Ref.: Notice No. MAR2030-2026-22 of 18/08/2026; Order No. 39/DG/2026 of 16 June.
Climate shelters: continuous, until funds run out
Addressed exclusively to municipal and parish councils, individually or jointly, it finances the creation and upgrading of climate shelters belonging to the “Stay Cool” Network. The support is non-repayable, at a rate of 80% of eligible expenditure and a limit of 75,000 euros per application, the allocation for this call being 1 million euros. Projects may not begin before the date of application, save for advance payments to secure bookings of up to 50% of the cost, nor last more than 12 months. As the period is continuous, the call may close before the end of the Programme once the funds are exhausted. Ref.: Regulatory Order No. 9/2026 of 5 August, under Ministerial Order No. 50/2025/1.
The mistake that costs most
It is not the merit of the project, it is the file. Each of these calls refers to a ministerial order setting eligibility conditions, limits and selection criteria, and it is there — not in the published summary — that the required documents and the start and completion dates binding on the beneficiary are found. Reading the text of the notice and its order before opening an application at the Funds Desk avoids most rejections on formal grounds.
For those arriving late to this round
The indicative plan of the mainland PEPAC provides for 177 million euros in new calls in the second half of 2026, including on-farm investment, young farmers and agri-industry, still to open as at this note. In the Azores, no new call under Azores 2030 was identified as having opened in August, and the official page for tourism incentives under Regional Legislative Decree No. 18/2005/A carries a notice of temporary suspension. Anyone missing the deadlines now open therefore has reason to follow the openings in the final quarter.
